چکیده

Conventional time domain rake combining can be replaced by minimum mean square error frequency domain equalisation (MMSE–FDE) with much better performance in a frequencyselective fading channel, since the frequency selectivity of the channel is thoroughly exploited. Chip interleaving is a form of channel interleaving that improves the DS–CDMA performance by taking advantage of the time selectivity of the channel. The combined effect of chip interleaving and MMSE–FDE is evaluated. The theoretical analysis of uncoded BER performance in a frequencyselective Rayleigh fading channel is presented and confirmed by computer simulations. It is found that chip interleaving improves the performance for all channel conditions and that the chip interleaving gain increases with the increase in spreading factor SF. In addition, it is shown by computer simulations that chip interleaving is beneficial in the presence of turbo coding and antenna diversity as well.

Chip Interleaving for DS-CDMA with Frequency Domain Equalization in a Frequency Selective Rayleigh Fading Channel

Abstract DS-CDMA with frequency domain minimum mean square error (MMSE) equalization can provide much better performance than that with rake combining in a frequency selective fading channel. Chip interleaving is a form of channel interleaving that improves the DS-CDMA performance by converting the channel into a highly time selective channel. When frequency domain equalization is used, the fre...

Performance of multicode DS-CDMA using frequency domain equalisation in frequency selective fading channel

For the reception of multicode direct sequence (DS)-CDMA signals, the MMSE frequency domain equalisation is applied instead of RAKE combining. The achievable BER performance in a frequency selective Rayleigh fading channel is evaluated by computer simulation. It is shown by computer simulation that the DS-CDMA with MMSE frequency domain equalisation outperforms the DS-CDMA with RAKE combining a...

Frequency-domain Differential Detection and Equalization for 2-dimensional spread/chip-interleaved DS-CDMA

Abstract The multiple-access interference (MAI) limits the performance of the DS-CDMA uplink transmission. 2D OVSF spread/chip-interleaved DS-CDMA is an MAI-free system, and hence single-user coherent frequency-domain equalization (FDE) can be used instead of complicated multiuser detection (MUD). However, coherent FDE needs channel estimation. Pilot-assisted channel estimation is not reliable ...

Chip-interleaved DS-CDMA with 2-dimensional OVSF spreading code

Multiuser interference (MUI) limits the transmission performance of the DS-CDMA uplink. In this paper, we propose a 2-dimensional (2-D) OVSF spreading and chip-interleaving to transform the multi-user channel into orthogonal single-user channels. Due to MUI cancellation, the chip-interleaved DS-CDMA with 2-D OVSF spreading has ability to increase the link capacity as well as to provide multi-ra...
